Mower County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fire that burned down a home in Dexter Thursday night.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said she is “suspicious” of the fire because the power had been disconnected at the beginning of the week. The State Fire Marshal will be joining the investigation, as well.
The same home was subject to a fire Sunday morning, which caused damage to the second floor.
Amazi said the home was a total loss after last night’s blaze. Nobody was in the house at the time.
Austin Fire Department, Mower County Sheriff’s deputies and Dexter Fire Department initially handled the second-floor flames on the 60000 250th Street in Dexter Sunday morning.
Kevin Hardecoph is the home’s tenant. He previously told police the Sunday fire appeared to have started in a bedroom because of a space heater.
Dexter Fire Department, along with deputies, were on the scene from 9 p.m. until midnight Thursday night.
