Search for new CRWD manager takes shape

Although the County hoped for more applicants for the vacant Cedar River Watershed District manager position, it will interview and select from the pool of seven it currently has.
County Board members had discussed re-opening the applications, but County Coordinator Craig Oscarson said they’ve already received some good applicants.
“There’s a couple that stand out to me,” he said.
Oscarson said the potential CRWD board manager must live in Mower County within the watershed and should be knowledgeable of the river and watershed issues, but not someone who is looking to serve his or her own agenda.
When the county personnel committee selects an applicant, it will make its recommendation to the county board at one of its three monthly meetings, with the board making the final decision.
Oscarson and the CRWD hope to have someone in place by the next CRWD meeting April 20. Dan Regner, who formerly held the position, served on his last meeting March 16.
However, CRWD will still have six board members with the vacant position, enough to form a quorum.
