Martha A. Golden, age 78, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2011. Martha was born on Dec. 9, 1932, to Joseph and Stella Mucha of Freeborn, where she and her five siblings spent their childhood on the family farm.
After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Army and provided two years of honorable service as a clerk and typist. A dedicated mother and homemaker, Martha also worked part time as a school bus aide assisting special education children during their transportation to and from school. In later years she enjoyed travel, working in the yard, volunteering and was an active member of the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. She was always proud of her Polish heritage. Martha is survived by three children, Cindy (Dan) Demko, Brian (Marianne) Golden, and Peter; four grandchildren, Jake and Jenny Demko and Chloe and Ben Golden; sisters, Rita Prescher, of Pine Island, Delores Fischer, of Albert Lea, and Lucille Jackman, of Duluth. Martha was preceded in death by sister, Lucretia Webster, and brother, Claude.
We will miss our wonderful mother very much. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m. with visitation an hour prior at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Bloomington.
