The Mower County Veteran’s Council is honoring a former member Saturday.

The council will hold its fourth annual fundraiser dinner in honor of Len Miller, a former Mower County Commissioner and veteran who died a few years ago.

The dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, 809 12th St. SW.

Funds go toward the Honor Flight program, which sponsors trips for World War II veterans to visit the memorial in Washington, D.C.

“(The fundraiser is) a good way to raise some money from our veterans,” said Jim Goudy, a former Legion commander.

Goudy said the event is a positive way to remember Miller, who was known for giving back to the community.

“I don’t think he was out for himself,” Goudy said. “He was certainly out for everyone else.”

The dinner will serve Czechoslovakian food goulash, vegetables and dumplings.

“I hope we get a lot of people out,” Goudy said.
