DULUTH, Minn. — A coyote and a black Labrador in Duluth seem to have formed an unusual couple.
The pair hasn’t been seen too often, but locals insist the two animals travel together.
The dog seems to be living wild. The Duluth News Tribune reported last month about a black Lab taking down a deer in someone’s driveway. Sue Hansen lives nearby. She’s convinced it’s the same dog, and says she’s seen it hang out with the coyote.
A wildlife manager with the state Department of Natural Resources initially told the News Tribune that coyotes and Labs wouldn’t run around together. But she changed her mind after seeing a neighbor’s photograph of the animals together.
Authorities think the Lab is a stray that joined with the coyote. There have been no reports of the animals acting aggressively toward people.
