Coin collectors converging in Austin

The largest traveling coin show in the world is rolling through Austin.
Coin collectors can bring their shiny, or not so shiny, pieces to the Holiday Inn March 7 through 11 in Austin. The show will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Austin is the next stop for the ICCA’s world tour. During the event, collectors hope to see items such as coins and paper currency issued prior to 1965, gold items, mismatched earrings, broken necklaces, gold coins and bullion.
The ICCA said its collectors are very serious about their hobby; so serious that they will pay a lot of money for the items they are looking for. They’ve bought many items for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and one item for more than $1 million.
Nearly all coins, vintage jewelry, bullion, Kruggerands, paper currency from the early 1900s and 1800s are on their list. The ICCA is a place where anyone in the community can connect with collectors from around the globe. ICCA experts make offers based on what collectors are willing to pay. Then when people decide to sell, they get paid by the experts who send the items to the seeking collectors.
