The Austin boys basketball team closed out its regular season with a 57-55 loss to Rochester Century in Packer Gym Friday.

Century’s Ater Manyang scored on a put-back with seven seconds left and Austin’s Andrew Kaiser missed a three as time expired.

“It was a good look,” Austin head coach Kris Fadness said.

Manyang also had a put-back score on a missed free throw to put the Panthers (16-8 overall, 14-5 Big Nine) up 55-53.

“Manyang made two great plays down the stretch, but on the last one it was an air ball off the backboard,” Fadness said. “If it hits the rim, maybe he doesn’t get it.”

Kaiser tied the game with a steal and a lay-up twice down the stretch and he also hit a three to make it 53-48 Century.

After that three Century head coach Joe Ohm picked up a technical, which led to two free made free throws by the Packers and Joe Aase hit another free throw to make it a two-point game.

Century used a 10-0 run to take a 32-22 early in the second half.

The Packers (13-11 overall, 11-7 Big Nine) will open the Section 1AAA tournament Wednesday.

Austin finishes the season in fourth place in the Big Nine.
