An Austin woman faces drug possession charges after hospital personnel allegedly discovered a methamphetamine pipe in her bra last August.
Tamara Jane Olson, 27, was taken to Austin Medical Center after she was ejected from her vehicle in a one-car crash August 5. A court complaint states Olson was “very excited” at the scene of the crash, before she went to AMC, and had told police she wasn’t ejected from the vehicle but “jumped out.”
Olson admitted to police that she had smoked marijuana and drank alcohol the previous day. She also told police she would test positive for meth because she had smoked some the previous night.
According to the court complaint, a Gold Cross employee found the meth pipe in Olson’s bra when she was undressing at the hospital and placed it in a bag with her belongings. When police questioned Olson about the pipe, she said the hospital staff must have put the pipe in her bag because it didn’t belong to her.
Olson later changed her story again and said she found the pipe “for law enforcement” but didn’t attempt to give it to officers, according to the court complaint.
Olson tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). She has been charged with fifth-degree drug possession, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of schedule 1 or 2 drugs and driving without insurance. She is set to enter her plea Thursday, March 10.
