Another round of snow creeping in

Austin may not get the brunt of the storm, but it’s looking likely residents are in for some snow.
The National Weather Service is calling for 6 to 7 inches of snow to hit Austin and the surrounding area late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
“(Austin’s) going to see the largest accumulations Tuesday night through Wednesday morning,” said Todd Rieck, meteorologist with the NWS in La Crosse, Wis.
Commuters should be mindful Wednesday morning, as the snow is expected to be wet and heavy, thanks to an influx of hot air throughout the area. People traveling east of Austin can expect a rain/snow mix along with heavy flakes as well.
Temperatures will drop from a high of 36 on Tuesday to around 28 Tuesday night, which means any precipitation on the ground before then could freeze and create icy conditions. Temps could get up to 31 Wednesday before settling down to 25 Wednesday night.
While the storm should pass through Wednesday night, residents can expect a day or two reprieve before another storm system passes through Friday night, possibly bringing in more snow. Another storm system is likely Monday and early forecasts show the storm has a stronger chance of bringing in more snow.
“Prepare appropriately,” Rieck said.
