Alumni Update: Gunderson had solid freshman year at St. Olaf

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY

Austin grad Tim Kirby has seven goals and 13 assists this season as a defenseman for the Air Force Academy.

Air Force is 16-11-6 overall and will compete in the Atlantic Conference quarterfinals this week.

Austin grad John Kirby has four goals and 14 assists as a defenseman for the Austin Bruins this season.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Austin grad Connor Gunderson started 23 of the 26 games he played in for St. Olaf as a freshman this season. Gunderson averaged 8.1 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 62 percent from the field and 42 percent on three-pointers.

St. Olaf finished 17-9 overall.

Hayfield grad Tanner Kramer started 15 of the 22 games he played in as a freshman for Wartburg this season. Kramer averaged 3.6 points, 1.8 assists and 1 rebound, while shooting 40 percent from the field and 40 percent on threes.

The Knights finished 10-14 overall.

Southland grad Cody Kirkpatrick played in 17 games at Luther College this season. He averaged 1.5 points and .9 rebounds in limited action for the Norse.

Blooming Prairie grad Matt Zellmer played in six games for Luther and he averaged .7 points per game.

The Norse finished 19-9 overall.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Hayfield grad Leslie Wilson started in 25 of the 26 games she played in for Wartburg this past season. She averaged 4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while hitting 52 percent of her shots. Wilson was second on the Knights (21-5 overall) with 47 steals.

Austin and Riverland grad Anna Hebrink wrapped up her college basketball career at Bemidji State this season. She averaged 9 points, 3 rebounds, and a team-high 2.5 assists, while shooting 31 percent on threes and 82 percent on free throws. Hebrink led the Beavers (7-19) with 41 steals.

Hayfield grad Jordyn Krekling played in four games as a freshman at Minnesota State University in Mankato. Krekling averaged .5 points and 1 rebound for the Mavericks, who finished 13-13 overall.

Grand Meadow grad Jessica Benson played in just six games for St. Cloud this past season, but she averaged 10.8 points and 7 rebounds for the Huskies (12-14 overall) in that span.
