Maevis (Bangert) Chapman, 81, of Hoxie, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie where she had resided since 1984. She was born on Aug. 27, 1929, in Albert Lea to Fred and Martha (Schmidt) Bangert. She married Lester Chapman on Sept. 21, 1953, in Denver. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2011.
Maevis graduated from Alden high School and Naeve Hospital School of Nursing. She worked many years in several states as a registered nurse. She enjoyed arts, crafts, sewing, quilting and reading.
Maevis is survived by a son, Kris Chapman, and wife, Doris, of Lyons, Colo; three daughters” Sheryl Taylor and husband, David, of Hoxie, Shelley Pruett and husband, Tom, of Colby, and Sheila Fenno and husband, George, of Brooksville, Fla.; a brother, Melvin Bangert and wife, Peggy, of Missouri; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Chapman; her parents; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
