The Austin boys hockey team saw its season come to an end in a 9-0 loss to Northfield in a Section 1A tournament game on the road Tuesday.

No. 6 seeded Northfield (10-15 overall) scored four goals in the last seven minutes of the first period, which saw them out-shoot the No. 11 seeded Packers 17-6.

“We were playing pretty well and then we had some breakdowns,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said.

Austin (4-22 overall) was out-shot 17-9 over the next two periods.

“We played better in the second and third, but it wasn’t enough,” Peterson said.

Rainer Londino-Green stopped 20 of the 26 shots he saw for Austin and Alex Sheldon stopped five of the eight shots he saw.

“The kids worked hard this year and I’m proud of them,” Peterson said. “We’ll do some work this offseason to get better next year.”
