May scores 1,000th point in Rebel win

Southland senior guard Alan May scored his 1,000th career point as the Rebels beat Wabasha/Kellogg (4-16 overall, 3-12 Three Rivers) 90-77 in Wabasha Tuesday.

Southland (12-9 overall, 8-7 Three Rivers) snapped a three-game losing streak as it found its rhythm on offense.

Southland sophomore Sam Klaehn hit five threes and scored 20 points in the absence of the injured Nick Schmitz.

“Sam did a nice job and Chris Wolff has been playing the point well, by spreading the ball around,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said. “Our offense was good, but we struggled stopping them.”

May, who had 23 points and 16 rebounds, scored his milestone point on a free throw.
