The Lyle/Pacelli girls basketball team came back from a slow start to beat Schaeffer Academy 45-33 in Pacelli Thursday.
Schaeffer (6-11 overall, 6-9 SEC) jumped out to a 12-2 lead as the Athletics didn’t score in the first six minutes, but L/P (13-5 overall, 12-3 SEC) found it’s offense in the second half.
L/P seventh grader Courtney Walter hit a three at the end of the first half to put her team up 19-16 at the break.
“We stared pressuring them on defense and that helped,” L/P head coach Brad Walter said. “We got it in the paint in the second half and Maggie Lewison stepped up.”
Lewison, a freshman, scored nine of her 11 points in the second frame and Ann Rysavy, a freshman, had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six steals.
L/P scoring: Ann Rysavy, 18; Maggie Lewison, 11; Courtney Walter, 9; Madison Truckenmiller, 5; Ashley Hinz, 2; free throws: 50 percent (9-for-18)
