Local veterans who want to put in their two cents on federal veterans programs will have the chance to do just that on Thursday.

Democratic Congressman Tim Walz will be holding a veterans round table discussion at VFW Post 1216 at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon to hear local perspectives on Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense programs.

Walz has said he wants to protect veterans even during the tough budget cycle in which the country has found itself.

The discussion with Walz will begin at 2 p.m. and is scheduled to last until 3:30 p.m. The VFW is located at 300 4th Ave. NE in Austin.
