“Devon is wrestling with a great deal of confidence right now,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “He has his sights set on a number of big goals, and knows that he will have to wrestle well to reach those goals.”

Herrera won his final 4-1 over Adam Treptau of Buffalo and he had a pin and a 9-4 win in his other matches.

It was the first tournament title for Herrera, who was seeded fourth and beat the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds to win.

Russell won with a 12-3 major decision in the second round, but he was pinned by Cedric Jeminez with 51 seconds left in the match. Russell had led 4-2 going into the third.
