Scarlets knock off Austin girls

The Austin girls basketball team fell to Mankato West (4-8 overall, 2-6 Big Nine) 59-53 on the road Friday.
The Packers (4-8 overall, 4-4 Big Nine) led by eight, but they shot just 10 free throws, while putting the Scarlets to the line 38 times.
“It’s tough because this is a game we should’ve won,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “We’ve got to learn to play better with our feet.”
Austin had 36 turnovers, but it also forced 37 turnovers.
“It was a sloppy game,” Peterson said.
