Richard Vance Hotson, Sr., 71, of Montague, Calif., died Jan. 28.

He was born in Austin to Dean Hotson and Sylvia Pederson and graduated from Austin High School. In 1959, he married Sharon Lawler. Together, they had three children. He made his living as a carpenter and retired from it as his proffesion.

Richard is survived by his wife; children: Richard Jr., Lancaster Calif., Kathy (Stan) Bevier, Corning, Calif., Lynn (Dave) VanderPlas, Montague, Calif.; sister: Helen (Dennis) Orvedal of Northwood, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
