The Austin girls basketball team locked down on the defensive end in a 57-33 win over Rochester Century in Packer Gym Friday.

The Packers (8-9 overall, 7-5 Big Nine) led by as many as 30 in the second half and they held the Panthers (9-7 overall, 6-7 Big Nine) to just 10 points in the first half.

Austin switched its defense whenever Century’s top scorer Mallory Cochran was in the game and it worked wonders.

“We kept them off-balanced and the kids had great intensity,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “We worked hard out there and it as a really good win. Hopefully we can build on this and play consistent.”
