The Austin girls hockey team snapped a five-game losing streak when it scored four times in the third period to beat Rochester Century (4-13-1 overall, 2-11 Big Nine) 4-2 in Rochester Saturday.

The Packers (6-17-1 overall, 2-11-1 Big Nine) trailed 2-0 after the first, but they stepped up their game in the third. Ashley Arhart and Vanessa Talamantes each scored in the first two minutes of the period and Carley Grunewald gave Austin the lead for good when she scored on a powerplay with 2:08 left in the contest.

“We tweaked the lines a bit and it seemed like it worked,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “We really played a good game.”
