Blooming Prairie sophomore guard Janelle Morem played a big role in her basketball team beating Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton (6-9 overall) 48-44 on the road Friday.

Morem not only led the Awesome Blossoms (8-8 overall, 6-3 Gopher) in just about every statistical category, she also played standout defense on J/W/P’s three-pointer shooter Salena Gahler.

Gahler finished with 21 points and she hit six threes, but Morem, who had 15 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks, covered her down the stretch.

“They had a couple of late possessions where they were down three and they tried to free up Gahler,” BP head coach John Worke said. “Janelle did a great job of fighting through screens and getting out on her. I can’t say enough about the game Janelle had.”

Worke picked up his 300th career win in the BP victory.
