The Austin girls basketball team couldn’t find any offense in a 51-32 loss at Rochester Mayo (7-5 overall, 5-1 Big Nine) Friday.
The Packers (4-6 overall, 4-2 Big Nine) shot 24 percent from the field and they had 20 turnovers.
“We just couldn’t get any offense going and I think their size kind of wore us down,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said.
The Packers led a couple of times in the first half and they trailed just 22-16 at the break, but Mayo pulled away early in the second half.
“We played pretty good defense in the first half,” Peterson said.
Sophomore Taylor Lady led the Packers with nine points of the bench.
Austin scoring: Taylor Lady, 9; Jenna Svoboda, 8; Babaye Oja, 6; Sophia Hebrink, 2; Danielle Tschann, 2; Olivia Grev, 2; Maing Garcia, 2; Mary Kate Barinka, 1; field goals: 24 percent (13-for-55); three-pointers: 15 percent (2-for-12); free throws: 50 percent (4-for-8); rebounds: 38; turnovers: 20
