MINNEAPOLIS — Former pitcher Jim Perry has been elected to the Minnesota Twins’ Hall of Fame.
The ballclub said Tuesday the 1970 Cy Young Award winner will be inducted as the 23rd member of the Hall of Fame during a special ceremony Saturday, June 11, when the Twins host the Texas Rangers.
Perry played 17 seasons in the major leagues, including 10 with the Twins from 1963 to 1972. He made back-to-back All-Star appearances in 1970 and 1971.
Perry was elected by a 55-member committee, which includes local and national media, club officials, fans and past elected members, using rules similar to those necessary for election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
