Helen J. Huseby, 87, of Adams, died on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams.
Helen was born April 4, 1923, in Austin, the daughter of Johnny B. and Bertha (Benson) Sathre. She graduated from Austin High School. Helen married Byron J. Huseby on March 7, 1943, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The Husebys resided at Adams, and Helen was the manager of the Mower County Farmers Mutual Ins. Co. for 25 years.
Helen was a member of the Little Cedar Lutheran Church where she served as the president of the Altar Guild and president and secretary of the Ladies Aid. She taught Sunday school and confirmation and helped to form a mother’s club. She started a Luther league service project that took youth to the Rochester State Hospital to work with residents and sang in the church choir. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served at its president and secretary. She was also active with the Parent Teachers Assoc. and the Lucky Clovers 4-H club.
Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her brother/sister reunions and watching the Minnesota Twins. She loved cooking for her family.
Helen is survived by her husband, Byron Huseby, Adams; children, Gloria Keseley of Plainview, Linda (Charles) Gilles of Adams, Marcia (Dennis) Mullenbach of Adams, Brian (Deb) Huseby of Fairfax, Okla.
; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey (Alice) Sathre; sisters, Dorothy (Sparky) Bellrichard, Donna (T.J.) Williams, Joan (Tom) Adams, Ann (Gary) Eppen; sisters-in-law, Alice Sathre and Joanne Sathre; Nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul, Maynard and William Sathre; son-in-law, Dallas Keseley and sister-in-law, Morna Sathre.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday Jan. 24, at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, with the Reverends Leslie Brooke Neist and Meredith Keseley officiating. Interment will be at the Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour before the service on Monday.
Honorary bearers will be Tara Mandt, Amy Huseby, Gwen Larson and Amanda Huseby. Casket bearers will be Tim Mullenbach, Jon Gilles, Anthony Keseley, Matthew Keseley, Brandon Huseby and Mark Bellrichard.
