Hayfield comeback falls short

The Hayfield boys basketball team couldn’t get out of an early hole in a 62-53 loss at Kasson/Mantorville (8-1 overall) Tuesday.
The Vikings (8-3 overall, 1-2 HVL) trailed 41-22 early in the second half but they battled back to get within 57-53 with 1:20 left after Bobbie Stephens hit a three.
K/M put the game away with two offensive rebounds off of missed free throws down the stretch and the Komets were led by Alex Eck, who scored 25 points.
