A 38-year-old Austin man was cited for “extreme speeding” and careless driving after a Mower County deputy clocked him at 102 mph.

The man was apparently driving toward Highway 56 on the Mower-Fillmore Road when a deputy spotted him driving very fast around midnight Thursday night, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi.

When the deputy pulled the man over, he said his accelerator had become frozen to the floor. He said he was trying to hit the brakes while it was stuck.
