With a silent vote, the county board opted to leave Auditor-Treasurer Doug Groh’s salary at the 2010 level as previously decided.
Faced with a choice between reconsidering Groh’s salary or staying pat, the county board remained quiet.
On Dec. 28, the board opted to keep Groh’s salary at the 2010 level of $68,181.15 while County Attorney Kristen Nelsen and Sheriff Terese Amazi both received raises due to increased workloads.
Earlier this month, Groh submitted a letter to the board about the decision.
“I firmly believe my staff serves me well, and I have worked hard these past years,” Groh said in one portion of the letter read aloud by County Coordinator Craig Oscarson at the meeting.
After reading the letter and determining it was not a legal appeal, the board declined to revisit the issue.
A 15-day period to legally appeal the salary has passed.
On Dec. 28, the board indicated there were concerns with Groh’s performance.
“We have numerous issues with things not being done,” Commissioner Tim Gabrielson said after that meeting.
However, Gabrielson said the decision had more to do with work loads than performance.
