County board could reverse decision

The county’s investigation into joint dispatch centers could take another turn Tuesday.
The county may reverse its motion to take part in the Interstate 35 Corridor PSAP Regional Study. Instead, the board may opt to be part of a study on potential regional dispatch center in southeastern Minnesota.
The issue will be discussed during the county board meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the county board room.
According to Commissioner Tony Bennett, the study would look at forming regional centers based on current radio boards.
Each county would receive $25,000 from the state for the study, said Bennett. The board previously passed on joining a regional dispatch center in Owatonna because the center wouldn’t have led to cost savings for the county.
The board will also hold a public hearing on a proposed sand and gravel pit in Marshall Township.
Committee reports on personnel, finance and buildings are also included in the Feb. 1 agenda, along with an update from the Chair on his letter to the Cedar River Watershed District.
