An Austin man who was sentenced to 10 years probation for threatening a woman with a shotgun has also been sentenced to one year in jail in an unrelated matter.
Joshua Steven Solberg, 26, was convicted of misdemeanor assault and interfering with a 911 call. He was sentenced Friday in Mower County Court.
The incident occurred May 4, 2010, when Solberg entered a woman’s house through the basement window. According to a court complaint, he tried to take the woman’s phone, which resulted in a physical struggle between the two.
During the struggle, Solberg apparently struck the woman on the lower lip and scratched her wrist.
The woman told police she tried to call 911 on Solberg’s work cell phone, which was laying on the kitchen table, but he took the phone from her hands and pushed her to the floor, causing a bruise on her chest.
Solberg told police the woman was on the bed at one point and tried to kick him in the face, so he grabbed her hands and took the phone. He also said he tried to hit her shoulder when he was pushing her away, but hit her in the face instead.
The incident occurred about a month and a half before the episode in which Solberg broke into a woman’s house and pointed a gun at her chin.
