The Austin girls basketball team had to hold off Faribault (1-15 overall, 1-10 Big Nine) to pick up a 47-44 road win Tuesday.

The Packers (7-9 overall, 6-5 Big Nine) had led by as many as 15 early in the first half, but they struggled with turnovers (31) and couldn’t put away the Falcons, who have now lost 13 straight.

“We started panicking a little and then we hit some free throws,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “I’m glad we got the win, but we didn’t play very well and we’ve got to learn to put teams away when we’re ahead.”
