The Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball team got off to a fast start against Spring Grove, but it couldn’t finish the job in a 70-50 loss in Lyle Monday.

The Lions (8-6 overall, 6-1 SEC) outscored L/P 39-19 in the second half to take the game.

“We came out scared in the second half and foul trouble caught up to us,” L/P head coach Casey Anderson said.

L/P’s Max Brennan, who had 23 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Skylar Meyer, who had 12 points and five rebounds, both fouled out of the game as Spring Grove made their rally.

The Athletics (2-9 overall, 2-4 SEC) had jumped out to a 12-point lead early on and the game was tied 31-31 at the half.

“We came out real intense,” Anderson said.

L/P scoring: Max Brennan, 23; Skylar Meyer, 12; David Diang, 5; Ryan Rust, 4; Michael Kline, 2; free throws: 30 percent (3-for-10)
