Got a million-dollar talent?
A slice of Hollywood is coming to Minneapolis, and producers with America’s Got Talent are hoping participants come out in force to represent Minnesota.
America’s Got Talent is holding auditions on Jan. 22 and 23 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Ave. S, Minneapolis. Participants have a chance to win a one million dollar prize.
Anyone is welcome to audition to showcase a talent in 90 seconds. Participants selected to move on will have a rare opportunity of performing at a televised show to be filmed in Minneapolis in March or April.
“Our show is the only show that anything goes,” said Roz Taylor-Jordan, a supervising casting producer for the show.
Even if someone is not selected to move on, they still get the chance to witness the audition process. While it could take more than three hours to audition, Taylor-Jordan said it’s a unique experience to make new friends and see people getting ready to perform.
“It’s really an experience in and of itself,” she said.
Taylor-Jordan said it’s the only show where a grandmother can play her harpsichord for 90 seconds and end up on national television in front of millions of people.
“You just have to come to try to live a dream,” she said.
She guaranteed everyone would have a good time.
“We are not mean people. … Everybody leaves smiling,” she said.
While people will have up to 90 seconds to perform, Taylor-Jordan cautioned people to put their best foot forward right away.
“Come in with the good part,” she said.
Televised performances aren’t held in every city, but Taylor-Jordan said the show will offer a unique experience for many people to showcase their talents in their hometown. Anyone selected to move on will perform at a televised show planed in Minneapolis

So far, the Minneapolis show is lagging behind in number of participants. If enough people don’t audition, it’s unlikely the show would return to Minnesota.
“We need Minneapolis to show up,” Taylor-Jordan said.
