Alumni update: Gunderson stepping up at St. Olaf

BASKETBALL
Austin grad Connor Gunderson continues to start for the St. Olaf men’s basketball team (8-4 overall) as he is fourth on the team in scoring at 6.8 points per game.
Gunderson is also averaging 2.3 rebounds while hitting 50 percent of his field goals.
Gunderson had seven points, three rebounds and two assists in a recent win over Saint Mary’s.
Blooming Prairie graduate Matt Zellmer is starting to get his first action with the Luther men’s basketball team.
Zellmer, a sophomore at Luther, has played in three games and made his only three-point attempt for the Norse (8-5 overall).
Southland grad Cody Kirkpatrick has played in five games for Luther and he is averaging 1.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
Hayfield grad Tanner Kramer has moved into the starting lineup for the Wartburg College men’s basketball team.
Kramer, a freshman at Wartburg (6-7 overall) had five points and four assists in an 89-80 win over Loras College and he scored eight points in a 69-67 loss to Dubuqe.
Kramer has started in four games for Wartburg and is averaging 3.7 points, while hitting 52 percent of his field goals and 53 percent (10-for-19) of his three-pointers.
Hayfield grad Leslie Wilson is playing a key role as a full-time starter for the Wartbug women’s basketball team, which is off to its best start in school history at 14-0.
Wilson had nine points on three-of-four shooting and eight rebounds in a win over UW-Stout and she’s averaging 4.4 points on a team-high 55 percent shooting, while grabbing 4.4 rebounds and dishing out 1.9 assists per game.
HOCKEY
Austin grad Tim Kirby has four goals and five assists in 19 games at Air Force Academy (8-8-3 overall) so far this season.
Tim’s younger brother, John Kirby, has two goals and five assists for the Austin Bruins this season.
The University of Eau Claire women’s hockey team, which is led by Austin grads Kristen Faber and Taylor Jenkins, has picked up three wins and four ties in its last four games to extend its record to 8-5-2 overall.
Faber had four goals over that stretch and she now has 15 points in 15 games.
