Sigri Naomi Sitz, 96

Sigri Naomi Sitz died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 at Aicota Health Care Canter in Aitkin, Minn., at the age of 96 years.

Sigri was born April 14, 1914 to T.O. and Anna E. Ringer in Tilden, NE. She was the youngest of four children. he attended Norfolk High School, Norfolk, Neb., Yankton College Yankton, S.D. and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Sigri met Chester Sitz at the University of Minnesota. They were married Sept. 5, 1936 after Chet graduated from dental school. They were long time residents of Austin. Together they raised four children, Rob, Sigri Ann, Lynne and Greg. As their family expanded, they lovingly became known as “Grams and Gramps.”

Sigri was supportive of her husband during his many years of dental practice and served as President of the Southwestern Dental Auxiliary. She was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, including the women’s Circle and baking Krumkake for Scandinavian Days. Sigri was a member and President of the League of Women Voters and a member of the St. Olaf Hospital Auxiliary.

Sigri was a resident of The Cedars of Austin and more recently of Aicota Health Care center in Aitkin, Minn. Sigri was admired by many, touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death were her husband Chet, loving son Greg, brother Leo and two sisters, Mildred and Lois. Survivors include son Robert Chester Sitz of Safety Harbor, FL; daughter Sigri Ann Brundridge of Grand Junction, CO; daughter Lynne Marie Schoepf of Aitkin, Minn.; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Virginia Klingvall of Byron, Minn.

A Celebration of Sigri’s life will be held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin on Friday Dec. 10, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with The Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Foundation or to the MLBPH Gift Fund (Minnesota Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped). The Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
