Packer girls top Luverne 8-2

The Austin girls hockey team started slow, but found its offense in the second period of an 8-2 win over Luverne (1-3 overall) in Riverside Arena Friday.
The Packers (3-5 overall) rattled off 21 shots in the first period, but scored just once. In the second period, they tallied six goals on 16 shots.
“We looked kind of sluggish in the first period and we had a little talk,” Austin head coach Denny Bray said. “We got it going in the second period.”

Carley Grunewald had three goals and five points for the Packers, while Alex Larson and Abby Gallaher each scored two goals.
