Mary Electa Horton, 92, of Roseville, formerly of Austin, passed away on Nov. 4, 2010.
Mary was born Oct. 7, 1918, at the family farm near Plainview to Tom and Caroline Hall. She attended a one room country school and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, Wis. with an RN degree. She loved being a nurse. In 1942, she became the WWII soldier’s bride of Bert Horton and began raising a family of five. She lived in Austin from 1953 to 1970 and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
She is survived by her children: Peter (Annette) Horton; Catherine (Bill) Morin; Mary Jane Horton and Jean (Jim) Klee; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; son, James; daughter-in-law, Annette; and all eight of her brothers and sisters.
She was a cherished grandmother, a dear mother, a great friend and dedicated to her Catholic faith. She will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 9 at St. Odilia Catholic Church in Shoreview. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
