Margie Vietor

Margie Marie (Ross) Vietor, 87, passed away Oct. 26, 2010 at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn.

She was born in Iowa on Feb. 21, 1923.

Shortly after her birth, Margie moved to Austin where she was raised by her grandparents. Austin was her home for the rest of her life.

She was married on April 16, 1948, to Lambert Mearl Vietor. She was a devoted housewife and loving mother to their many children. Later, Lambert and Margie enjoyed spending their winters down south, always returning to Austin in the spring. Margie loved to read, sew, and crochet. She was well-known in Austin for being the yarn lady.

She was survived by her daughters: Sharon (Bob) Knutson, Owatonna, Minn.; Janet (Dave) Tentinger, Springfield, Ore.; and Mary (Jeff) McNiff, Austin, Minn.; sons; Robert Hebl, of Austin, Minn., ; Donald Vietor, Red Wing, Minn.; Craig Vietor, Austin, Minn.; James (Sally) Vietor, Elkton, Minn.; 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

There will be a memorial service held for her at Crane Community Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at 1 p.m. Cake and coffee will be served. Friends can greet the family at 12:30 p.m.
