The Austin girls soccer team was hoping for its second win, but it had to settle for a 2-2 tie against Faribault (0-4-2 overall) at Art Hass Stadium Monday.

Carley Grunewald scored a goal in each half to give the Packers (1-4-1 overall) leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but the Falcons scored halfway through the second half to tie the game and that’s the way the score stayed after two overtimes.

“Before the game I would’ve taken the tie, but we had more than our fair share of chances to win by a lot,” Austin head coach Josh Dumas said. “We need to work on putting the ball in the back of the net.”

Austin has now scored three goals in two games after netting just two shots in its first three contests.

“We moved our faster players up front and it’s working,” Dumas said.

Austin goal keeper Abby Gallaher had another strong game in the net.

“She had the game of her life and she was phenomenal,” Dumas said.
