Michael Robert Kindig, 69

Michael Robert Kindig, 69 of Lakewood, CO, passed away at home on Aug. 9, 2010, of pancreatic cancer.
Michael, son of Earl Robert Kandig and Ora Clark, was born in Columbia South Carolina on Nov. 3, 1940. When Michael was three years old, his father was declared missing in action in Papua New Guinea. His mother later married Dr. Donald Osborn. During his life, Michael served in the Marine Reserves for six years, was a graphic designer, an actor, an art director and a journalist. Prior to his passing, he was editor of the Colorado Labor Advocate.
Michael graduated from high school in Austin in 1958; attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated from Mankato State with a degree in Business.
Michael crusaded to help find the remians of his biological father, which were found in 1998. Major Kindig was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. His headstone is inscribed with the words, “We Speak Your Name”.
Kindig was a memeber of the Screen Actor’s Guild and former president of the Colorado branch. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1968, and remained both politically and professionally devoted to the Labor Union movement and the Democratic party throughout his lifetime. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union, loved the Yankees and his Harley Davidson. He was a voracious reader, known for his ironic wit and his integrity.
Michaeld is survived by his wife, Patricia Gaffney-Kindig; his son, Tom Osborn; his daughter, Jennifer Schmidt; his step-son Jeff Dorshner; and his step-children Leah Ansel and David Ansel. In addition, he is survived by brother John Osborn, and two sisters: Susan Densmore and Jo-el Rashad. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jeffrey, Sophia, Christopher, Sadie, Tate, Grace, Laurel, Julia and Cate.
A private service was held for family members.
