Michael H. Bosshart, 55

Michael Herbert Bosshart, 55 of Hope, died at Owatonna Hospital Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16, 2010.

He was born Sept. 23, 1954, to Herbert Arthur and Patricia Ann (Wollin) Bosshart in St. Paul. The family lived in Baldwin, Wis., and when Michael was a junior in high school, moved to Owatonna where he graduated in 1973. He married Nancy Johnson on June 17, 1977, at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna.

A member of First Lutheran Church and the Arbor Society, he had his own greenhouse. He loved his flower gardens and growing plants, as well as time with his grandson and friends to whom he was known as “Spike” and “Buzz.”He was also known as the “Unofficial Mayor of Hope.”

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bosshart of Hope; daughter, Sarah Bosshart (Brad Howe) of Ellendale; grandson, Brenden Michael McMann; mother, Patricia (Herbert) Chmelik of Owatonna; siblings: Kathleen (Mike) Richardson of Yuma, Arizona; Julie Bosshart of Phoenix, Ariz.; David (Nona) Bosshart of Burnsville; Daniel (Tammy) Bosshart of Stewartville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debi (Merrill) Bernau of Emmons; Gary (Joylene) Johnson of Claremont; Peggy (David) Johnson of Blooming Prairie; Shelly (Brian Hubbard) Ditlevson of Stewartville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with the Rev Charles Leonard and Reverend Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Danish Baptist Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie.
