The Austin Fire Department, along with officers from the Austin Police Department, responded to a house fire around 2 a.m. Monday morning at 1809 Second Ave. SW.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Owner Carol Roberts, 86, recently moved out of the house.

A neighbor alerted authorities of the fire and upon arrival part of the house’s roof was covered in flames.

The AFD was on the scene until 6:19 a.m.

The home was declared a complete loss. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
