Lois V. Grose, 93

Lois V. Grose, age 93 of Austin, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin, Minn.
Lois was born Aug. 15, 1916 in Richville, Minn. to Elmer and Luella (Brooks) Christensen.  As a child, she told stories of playing basketball, swimming, and skating. She also loved downhill skiing on home made skis.  She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1936 and then went on to business school in Mankato, Minn.  She married E.B. “Bud” Grose on Nov. 8, 1942.
She worked for many years as a book keeper for George Ewalt, MN Trust Co. and Stupka & Morem Accounting Firm, ending her career at 1st National Bank.
Lois was musically talented, playing violin, piano and singing in the church choir.  She was a fabulous cook and could make every kind of Christmas cookie imaginable.  She had a passion for arts and crafts.  This was reflected in the elaborate quilts she made for all the grandkids, the countless doilies she made as wedding gifts, and many other beautiful creations.  Her deep love for family extended to all of those around her.  Her strong faith, positive attitude and caring disposition caused her family and friends to surround her throughout her life.
She had an enormous heart and truly loved life.
Lois is survived by her son: Greg (Diane Ibrahim) Grose, Clifton Park, N.Y.; daughter: Sue (Michael) Gosha, Austin, Minn.; grandchildren: Matt (Jennifer) Gosha, Austin, Minn., Natalie (Troy) Nantke, Plymouth, Minn., Andy (Tanya) Gosha, Maple Grove, Minn., Samantha Grose, St. Paul, Minn., Jacqueline Grose, Eagan, Minn.; step grandchildren: Sharif Ibrahim, Washington D.C., Adam Ibrahim, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; great grandchildren: Michael Gosha, Alex Gosha, Delaney Nantke, Nora Gosha; nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour before the service.
