Opal Pirkl

Opal V. Pirkl, 99, of Blooming Prairie, died at Prairie Manor Care Center Sunday, July 18, 2010. 
She was born March 7, 1911, to Berryman and Bertha (Williams) Wood in Ida Grove, Iowa.  She married Cyril Pirkl on Nov. 9, 1935, in Owatonna. They made their home in the Blooming Prairie area where Opal was a member of United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, crocheting, doing needlework, raising chickens and family picnics, but ballroom dancing was her favorite entertainment. Cyril passed away in 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Leone (Donald ) Peterson of Brownsdale and Bonnie Maxfield of Owatonna; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Steven, Corrine, Colette, Jason, Harlan, Peggy, Stewart and Becky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril; her parents; five sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Dennis Tamke officiating.  Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
