This weekend, Hayfield’s Hey Days will feature a variety of entertainment from circus monkeys to a Civil War era church service.
Our goal is to have something for all ages,” said Lana Mindrup, president of the Hayfield Celebration Committee.
A new event to Hey Days this year will be a Civil War reenactment going on the entire weekend. Those participating will spend the weekend living like it’s the 1860s in the lot across from the fire hall. A doctor’s tent will be setup where they’ll show how wounded soldiers were treated. The participants will run the community worship on Sunday like a traditional 1860s church service.
After a hiatus, the flea market and car show are both returning this year. The car show will be held Sunday morning before the parade, which starts at 2 p.m. On Sunday, a drumline will perform after the parade, and there will be a show featuring circus monkeys.
Most of the events will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park and at the corner of Center Avenue and First Street.
The flea market, long with a carnival, will be open each day of the festival. The little princess party will return this year after it was successful last year.
