John Coppes, M.D., has been named the new medical director of Austin Medical Center – Mayo Health System. Dr. Coppes will be assuming medical director duties from Cynthia Dube, M.D., who is stepping down from that role after 8 years. Dr. Dube will continue seeing patients as an internal medicine provider at Austin Medical Center.

“The primary role of medical director is to ensure quality, safety and service to patients,” says Dr. Coppes. “I’d like to continue to maintain the same spirit of excellence that Dr. Dube has fostered at Austin Medical Center. I want patients to feel confident in their hometown medical center, and knowing that we are continuously working to ensure and improve quality and safety, they can.”

“We are excited Dr. Coppes is taking on this leadership role at Austin Medical Center,” said Dave Agerter, M.D., and CEO of Austin Medical Center. “We know he will do a great job in his new role and want to thank Dr. Dube for all that she has done.”
