Won’t you be our neighbor?

KSMQ Public Television and Christ Lutheran Church of Rochester are inviting neighbors of all ages to the “Won’t You Be Our Neighbor?” Fair on Wednesday, June 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Rochester.

The free event will feature food, music, games and activities, prizes and Mr. McFeely. The Rochester Fire Department and Police Dogs/Crime Unit will appear at the rain or shine event.

In conjunction with the event, KSMQ and Christ Lutheran Church are also supporting the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive. The sweater and clothing drive is a tribute to Fred Rogers and his famous cardigan, and his example of being a caring neighbor. The sweater drive will run until June 17, when Mr. McFeely will deliver the donated sweaters and clothing to the Rochester Salvation Army. Participants are encouraged to drop donations off at the event on June 16 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2904 20th Street SE, Rochester.

Sponsors from all over Rochester are contributing to the event and showcasing their neighborhood spirit including Rochester Central Lutheran School, RNeighbors, Hampton Inn, Canadian Honker, Hy-Vee, Cub Foods, Silver Lake Foods and Ye Old Butcher Shop, The Bread Baker CO., Choral Arts Ensemble, Factory Card & Party Outlet, Perkins and Christian Book & Gift Shop of Rochester.

Fred Rogers, “America’s favorite neighbor” dedicated his live to serving children. It is his relentless commitment that has led Mr. McFeely (David Newell) to keep the “Neighborhood Spirit” thriving to all the communities he visits. Be a good neighbor and visit Mr. McFeely on June 16 at Christ Lutheran Church in Rochester for an evening of food, fun, games and prizes.
