An 18-year-old male accused of punching and attacking another student at an Austin-area boarding school in February pleaded guilty to a felony-level charge Friday.

Adrian Robert Maloney entered the plea in Mower County court on a single count of making terroristic threats. Two separate assault charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

The incident in question occurred at Gerard Academy, located off Interstate 90 near the Austin Country Club, at around 10:35 a.m. on Feb. 11.

According to a criminal complaint, Maloney attacked a 16-year-old male who intervened while Maloney and another student were arguing.

Maloney punched the 16-year-old, then put him in a choke hold until he passed out. Two teachers in the room were able to break the choke hold within five to 10 seconds and separate the two teenagers.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to Austin Medical Center with moderate injuries, including a swollen lip and scratches to his neck, arms and head.

Records show that Maloney was previously convicted on a juvenile battery charge in Florida in June 2007.

A sentencing date has not been set in the case.
