The Southland baseball team advanced with an 8-2 win over No. 8 Goodhue in the first round of the Subsection 1A West Division playoffs Wednesday.
The top-seeded Rebels (17-4 overall) took a 3-1 lead in the fifth when Alan May scored on a double steal and Connor Mielke knocked in a run with a two-out single.
“It’s been a long time since our last game and Goohue didn’t play like an eight seed, they played good,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “I think we started off a little rusty and hopefully we get going faster on Thursday.”
Southland will host No. 4 Kenyon/Wanamingo (8-12 overall) Thursday at 5 p.m.
