Rosena Nelson

Rosena Nelson, 94, of Grand Meadow died Friday, June 4, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center where she had resided for a little over a year.
She was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Marshall Township, Mower County to Albert Kraft and Minnie (Bruggeman) Kraft. She attended and graduated from Elkton High School and was united in marriage to Gerald K. Nelson on Dec. 2, 1934 in Elkton. Together they farmed in the Grand Meadow area for the majority of their lives. Gerald passed away on Dec. 4, 1987.
Rosena was an active member of the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing and making quilts.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Schaffer of Hastings, Minn. and Donna (Rich) Newton of Longmont Colo.; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great–great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons-in-law, Tom Schaffer and Terry Frutiger; one brother, Kelly Kraft and one sister, Rebecca Schleicher.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ann Siverling officiating. Burial will take place at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Frankford Township, Mower County. Friends may call from noon until time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials are preferred to the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice.
