My considering having a wind turbine erected in our backyard and sharing the electricity generated with my neighbors triggered a moratorium and now a proposed ordinance to prohibit such power sources in residential areas.

My property borders six other properties. Two of my neighbors oppose that idea, while two others seem to favor it.

If the City Council revises its proposal, I would merely pay for a study to present further details of such an operation to all of my neighbors. Then if any of our seven households objected, that idea would be dropped in this particular neighborhood.

But what we learn here might benefit other neighborhoods in Austin.
